Fort-Liberté Bay

The bay takes its name from the town of Fort Liberté, a name given by Haitian Generals after their independence from France in 1804. Previously, the French called it Port Dauphin, and the Spaniards referred to it as Bayaha, using the original Taíno name. It was also known as Fort Royal during the reign of Henry Christophe, King of Haiti. Due to its unique configuration, Fort Liberté has always been a safe harbor.

  • Location

Located on Haiti's northern coast, this bay offers a prime location for logistics in the Caribbean.

  • Commercial Exchange

Its proximity to the Dominican Republic border makes it ideal for commercial exchange on the island of Hispaniola, with great potential for cargo port development and as a cruise ship and resort hub for tourism.

  • Operations

The bay’s water depth of over 15 meters allows for cargo port operations without significant dredging, making it an ideal location for Oasis-class vessel operations.
